Broken

A quote my friend sent me today:
"how come when an escalator isn't working they hang a sign that says, escalator is currently out of order...Why cant they just hang a sign that says Escalator is currently stairs." -unknown

Doesn't it seem backwards to have an escalator going into a gym? And even worse...no one is on the stairs.

Workout Inspirations

I have become much more inspired over the last year when it comes to working out. I give 99% of the credit of getting me started to Brent, without his love for working out I probably wouldn't have started.  Or it would have taken me a lot longer.  Now that I am on the bandwagon, I enjoy it a little more each workout I complete. I have learned what I enjoy, how to switch it up when I get bored, and I am more confident at the gym.  I go into the "boys only room" where all the big free weights are.  I have taught myself how to use machines that I was intimidated by before, and I bring workouts written down with me so that I don't just wander aimlessly.

The past few times I have run, I have pushed myself longer.  I now attempt to run 4 miles instead of 3.  Running 3 was always my workout.  But I would like it if 4 miles was my comfort.  Just yesterday as I was running 4, I was thinking how happy I would be to run 5.  I never really understood the obsession with distance running.  I always thought I would be happy running 2-3 miles and moving on with my workout. But I see it now. As you run further and get more comfortable, you want to run even further than the time before.  I don't see a marathon in my future ever...but a half looks more feasible every time I finish a run. I am not fast by any means, I can't hold lower that a 10 minute mile if I get over 3 miles but I finish, and I beat my personal records and that is what counts!

The following three pictures are my inspiration today, I found them on another blog. They are so true in so many ways.  The nice thing about working out is the only person you are competing with is yourself. It may be frustrating at times...but more times than not, you feel 100 times better after a hard, sweaty workout!

I always have to remind myself that it is ok to be "slow"

I never understand how females leave the gym with their makeup still in place, I on the other hand look like a mess.

A new 100 Workout

Yesterday I got an email stating that I had to try this new "100 Workout".  When I asked where my friend had found it she told me she made it up with moves she learned at bootcamp class. It sparked my interest so last night I tried it out. Holy Sweat! It was hard and I hurt in places I didn't know muscles existed today! So, thank you Christine for a workout that truely kicked my butt last night. It is always nice to find something new to thow in the workout routine to combat the boredom that sets in from just running or biking all the time. Send me new ones as you make them up!

Try out this workout if you are short on time. It should take about 30 minutes (I rested 30 seconds or less between each move)! Make sure you have some good music to listen to while doing it to motivate you.  I was watching E!news which was slightly distracting. Brittany Spears, Justin Timberlake, Drew Barrymore...All these engagements I have to be informed of!

It begins

P90X started on Monday and man can I feel it. My abs have never hurt so much so good before in my life. (I rarely ever even attempt to do an ab workout).  I can't wait to see the results if WHEN I stick with it for 88 more days. :-/

I have heard from multiple people that this guy will be my arch nemesis by the time all is said and done:

Tony Horton, I can't believe your 52!  I don't want man arms when all is said and done, but I can't wait to be stronger and more toned!  Plyometrics was one of the strangest, hardest workouts I have ever done. And I don't think I have ever sweat that much in my entire life.

So, from now until January 8th my workout routine will take place with Tony (except on Sundays when the most exercise I will get is walking Jaks). I feel like with all the time we will spend together it is ok to be on a first name basis.

Wish me luck :)

Rain, Rain go away

Almost time for the work day to be over...spinning here I come.  I hope that traffic isnt too terrible because on a good day spinning would be 50 minutes away...and I have a little over an hour to make it there and change my clothes.  I haven't worked out since last wednesday, a whole week, so I am actually really excited for a hard workout.

While away last weekend we found a Lululemon outlet. AMAZING. I got a pair of crop pants, shorts and a top for a really good deal! I get to try out the pants tonight that eveyone raves about! (and I paid less than half price for them)!!

Other than that today has been pretty average. It has been rainy, work has been slow, I have been googling everything there is to google about wedding venues, dresses for bridesmaids that I would want to wear as well, and my favorite...random decorative pillows ;-) This pillow is on sale for $100.  How is that even possible???

I wish we could send the rain that we had today over to Texas where they need it so badly! I believe Jaks would like that as well. He is not so much a fan of doing his business in the rain (and then having to be dried off afterwards).

SHRED

I have heard a lot of good things about the Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred so on Monday I decided to start it.  30 consecutive days of her workout (along with my mini tri training other days as well).

The main reason I decided I want Jillian to train me (other than the fact that she is intimidating through a television screen) is because I really have zero clue what I am doing when I am lifting weights.  I just sort of fling my arms and legs around and hope something happens.  I am hoping to tone up and learn some moves by working out with Jillian!

Wish me luck! Today is day 3 and I woke up with muscles that I didn't even know I had hurting (in a good way of course).
